In everyday life, we always hear, this is plain, this is twill, this is satin, this is jacquard and so on. But in fact, many people after listening to the heart is confused, in the end where good, then today to talk about the characteristics of these three fabrics and discrimination.

Plain, twill and sateen talk about the structure of the fabric

The so-called plain, twill and satin (sateen) refers to the structure of the fabric, from the structure alone, these three are not good or bad, just because the structure of the different have their own characteristics.

1 Plain cloth

Is a variety of specifications of plain tissue cotton collectively. It includes plain grain and plain grain change organization, different specifications, different styles of cotton plain cloth. Such as: coarse plain cloth, medium plain cloth, fine plain cloth, yarn poplin, half line poplin, full line poplin, hemp yarn and brushed plain cloth, a total of 65 kinds.

2 Twill

Is a variety of specifications of twill organization cotton collectively, including twill and twill change organization, specifications of different styles of various cotton twill. Such as: yarn twill, yarn breakdown, half line breakdown, yarn huada, half line Huada, yarn khaki, half line khaki, full line khaki, brushed twill and so on a total of 44.

3 Satin fabric

It is a general term for various specifications of satin fabric. It includes various cotton satin fabrics of different sizes and styles, including satin and satin variations. Such as: yarn straight tribute, half line straight tribute, horizontal tribute and so on a total of 9.

tabby

The warp and weft are interwoven every other thread. The fabric is firm, sharp, flat surface, generally high-grade embroidery fabrics are made of plain fabric.

Plain fabric interweaving points more, the texture is firm, the surface is flat, the appearance effect of the front and back is the same, relatively light, good permeability. The plain texture of the structure determines its low density. Generally speaking, the price of plain fabric is lower. However, there are a few plain fabrics that are more expensive, such as some high-grade embroidered fabrics.

twill

Twill is the warp and weft woven at least two times apart, that is, 2 up and 1 down or 3 up and 1 down. The use of adding warp and weft interweaving points to change the fabric structure, collectively known as twill fabric. This kind of cloth is characterized by relatively thick, strong three-dimensional sense of organization, the number of 40, 60 and so on.

Twill fabric is easier to identify, because the weaving point of the warp and weft of the twill fabric presents the structural form of the twill line at a certain Angle on the fabric surface. It is characterized by the positive and negative points, less interweaving points, longer floating lines, soft feel, high density, the product is relatively thick, and the organization is strong.

Satin weave

The warp and weft are interwoven at least three times apart. The highest density and thickest fabric, the cloth is also smoother and more delicate, rich luster, but the product cost is higher, so the price will be relatively expensive.

Satin weaving process is more complex, only one of the warp and weft in the form of floating long cover the surface. Sateen with floating length covering the surface; A gauge satin with a full surface. The longer floating thread makes the surface of the fabric have a better luster and is easy to reflect light. So the cotton sateen fabric you look at carefully will feel faint has a kind of luster.

If the filament yarn with good luster is used as a floating filament yarn, the luster of the fabric and the reflection of light will be more prominent. For example, the silk cotton jacquard fabric has a silk-like bright effect. Floating threads in satin fabrics are prone to fraying, fuzzing, or picking out of the fibers. Therefore, the strength of such fabrics is lower than that of plain and twill fabrics. Fabrics with the same yarn count are denser and thicker, and cost more. Plain grain, twill, sateen is the most basic three kinds of longitude and weft interweaving, there is no specific good or bad points, but from the process of which sateen is definitely the fine cotton fabric, and twill is more accepted by most families.

Jacquard pattern

In Europe a few centuries ago, jacquard fabric clothing has become a classic for the royal family to reflect the dignity and elegance. Nowadays, noble patterns and gorgeous fabrics have obviously become the trend of high-end home textiles. The fabric of jacquard fabric changes the warp and weft structure and forms a pattern when weaving, the yarn count is fine, and the raw materials are very high. The warp and weft of jacquard fabric interweave, sink and float, forming a variety of different patterns, soft texture, fine texture, smooth, finish, dringing and breathability, high color fastness.

When choosing these fabrics, I mainly consider my own needs, like light and breathable buy plain, like durable and thick buy twill, like the festival covered with beautiful decoration can choose bright sateen.
