Since the 21st century, in order to meet the market demand, to develop high-support thin shirt fabric, on the basis of traditional rolling baking process, some new technology has been developed.



Tidal crosslinking

Tide crosslinking is a finishing process in which the cellulose fiber is partially puffed (that is, the fabric contains a certain amount of water) and the non-ironing finishing agent crosslinks with the cellulose at low temperature. The moisture crosslinking process can give cotton fabric good wet wrinkle resistance, medium dry wrinkle resistance, and high non-ironing grade. At the same time, the wear resistance and strength damage after finishing are less, and the application of thin high-end products such as shirt fabrics in recent years has been favored by colleagues in the industry. However, tide crosslinking has the disadvantages of long process flow, low production efficiency (intermittent), and difficult to control the process. Due to the increasing application of tide crosslinking process in production, a new continuous process has been developed.


Mild (or low temperature) baking process

Mild baking process, originally as a pre-(pre-) baking durable pressing (PP) finishing process of an improved process, the purpose is to improve the traditional process of high temperature baking fiber in the dry state in order to improve the cross-linking distribution and improve the wet wrinkle resistance, the main principle of the use of a strong catalyst, so that the cross-linking can be at a lower temperature (generally 100 ~ 120℃, not Above 130 ° C) to complete. At present, this process has been successfully used in the production of high-grade thin cotton non-ironing shirt fabrics and bed textiles, and some people believe that the mild baking process may be the most powerful candidate to replace the tide crosslinking process. The famous BASF company has also applied for a patent for "Advanced Performanes Finishing" (AP bonding process). The process flow and equipment used in the mild baking process are exactly the same as the conventional rolling baking process, but the technical parameters are different.


It is said that dry cross-linking is the way to achieve the effect of tidal cross-linking, and its advantages are as follows:


(1) Simple process, convenient operation and easy control;

(2) Good dry/wet crease homogeneity and washable W&W performance;

(3) Feel comfortable and soft;

(4) The strength damage is small;

(5) The formaldehyde released by the fabric meets the environmental protection requirements (<75ppm);

(6) Fabric yellowing is lower than traditional dry crosslinking;

(7) There seems to be no significant effect on all dyes and fluorescent brighteners.



Roll baking

After decades of continuous improvement, the problem of chlorine yellowing and chlorine damage has been solved, and the release of methyl alcohol to meet the requirements of environmental standards is no longer a problem. Only to obtain a certain ironing performance must pay a certain degree of strength and wear resistance decline, there is no proper compensation method. Although under normal circumstances, most of the strong damage caused by crosslinking is temporary, while a small part may be permanent damage caused by high temperature and acidity.


The test results show that the wrinkle-resistance of the non-ironing finished cotton fabric will gradually decrease during use and washing, but at the same time the strength will gradually increase: after several washes, it may even exceed the unfinished cotton fabric that is also worn. It has been proved that normal non-ironing finishing cotton fabric will not affect the actual wearing performance is an indisputable fact. However, reducing the strength damage and improving the wear resistance of the non-ironing finish are still the unremitting efforts of chemical finishing scientists and technicians.

In 2005, the United States Cotton company said that the durable pressing and finishing product of cotton produced by a new method was "Tough Cotton", which was characterized by a stronger fabric and more durable use, and attracted the attention of colleagues in the world. According to the introduction of the process flow is the traditional rolling baking process, only the composition of the dipping liquid is different from that of the traditional dipping liquid.


Since the invention of anti-wrinkle finishing, has been with the development of crosslinking agents, and textile chemical finishing researchers are always looking for more suitable crosslinking agents and establish the optimal treatment conditions for them and cellulose fibers, in order to obtain better anti-wrinkle properties; At the same time, spare no effort to use fine chemical products softener, lubricant, elastomer and other additives as anti-wrinkle finishing, to enhance the finishing effect and remove some adverse side effects, such as rough feel, strength and wear resistance decline, and constantly improve the physical level of anti-wrinkle finishing fabric.
