Definition:
Yarn and thread are products with certain fineness and unlimited length that are spun from various textile fibers. It is used for weaving, knitting, embroidery, thread making, rope making and so on.
The yarn, usually made of short fibers interwoven, is called yarn, and the yarn, made of two or more yarns combined and twisted, is called thread. So generally said single yarn, strand;
Single yarn: It is made of staple fibers by spinning, so that the staple fibers are arranged along the axis and twisted.
Twine: IT IS MADE OF TWO or more single YARNS combined AND TWISTED. Its strength and wear resistance are better than that of single yarns. At the same time, twine can be combined and twisted in a certain way to get double-twisted twine.
Yarn is often used to produce fabrics, while thread is used to stitch different fabrics together.

The classification of the yarn
Due to the wide variety of yarn (yarn), there are many classification methods. The classification and meaning of names often encountered in trade are briefly described as follows.
A. According to raw materials
B, according to the thickness of the yarn
1. coarseyarn
32tex (18 British count) more than the cotton yarn, are called coarse yarn (or coarse count).
It is mainly used for weaving thick fabric or cotton fabric. Such as coarse cloth, flannelette, strong fabric, etc.
2. Medium Yarn (mediumyarn)
33 ~ 22tex (18 ~ 27 British branch) cotton yarn is called medium special yarn (or called medium branch yarn).
It is mainly used for weaving flat cloth, twill, Gongsateen and other fabrics, and is widely used in cotton fabrics.
3. Fine yarn (fineyarn)
Cotton yarn of 21tex (28 British count) and below is called fine yarn.
Mainly used for high-grade needle, cotton goods, such as high-grade poplin, high-grade undershirt, vest, etc.
C, according to the spinning method
1. cardedyarn (Carde dyarn)
Yarn spun on a common spinning system.
2. Combed yarn (combedyarn)
With high quality fiber as raw material, the spinning process is increased compared with ordinary yarn.
Due to the increase of combing process, the arrangement of fiber in yarn is relatively straight, yarn strength is increased, luster is improved, defect is reduced. Combed cotton yarn is used to weave high - grade fabrics, such as high - grade poplin, muslin, high - grade knitwear, etc. Worsted yarn is mainly used to weave fine and thin wool fabrics, such as serge, veridine, etc.
3. wasteyarn (wasteyarn)
It refers to the yarn spun from waste cotton treated in the spinning process, such as vice brand yarn, which is used to make low-grade cotton felt, flannelette and foreskin.
D) According to the purpose
1. Warp (warpyarn)
It is used for weaving warp yarn. Because warp yarn bears great tension and friction during weaving, it needs high strength and proper twist.
2. Weft yarn (weftyarn)
The weft yarn used for weaving, because weaving does not undergo larger tension and friction as the warp yarn, so the strength requirements are lower than the warp yarn, but need to have a certain softness and twist stability, twist should not be too much.
3. knittingyarn
Because knitting into a circle, the requirements of soft smooth, smooth through knitting crochet, so it requires clean, uniform, twist lower than the warp and weft yarn.
E, according to the yarn structure
1. Single yarn (singleyarn)
Made from staple fibers spun directly by spinning.
2. Thread (pliedyarn)
Made of two or more single yarns combined and twisted.
3. Double twistyarn (compooundtwistyarn)
Made of two or more strands joined and twisted.
4. Fancy Yarn (fancyyarn)
A yarn of special shape or structure made by twisting more than two yarns of different sizes, materials, structures or colors, or by twisting them in a special way. Fancy thread of many kinds, with the development of new technology emerged in endlessly. If there are knot line, spiral line, circle line, color dot line and so on.
Fibroblasts are formed by stretching to curling under the action of heat and machinery, or by high pressure injection of jet air.
Composite filament without deformation, the appearance of smooth, straight, not puffy, no feathers on the surface. After the deformation treatment, the yarn is curled and puffed, the surface has feathers, soft feel, soft luster, and improves the performance of moisture absorption, ventilation, heat preservation and so on. Textured yarns are elastic yarns, low elastic yarns and textured yarns.
6. Cored yarn (thread) (corespunyarn)
It is made of core thread and outer yarn wrapped. Core yarn in the center of the yarn, usually for the strength and elastic good, including synthetic fiber filament (polyester, nylon, spandex, etc.), outsourcing of cotton, wool and other natural fibers, such making that has both natural fiber core-spun yarn of appearance, feel is good, the hygroscopicity and dyeing properties, but also strong synthetic fibers, elastic and dimensional stability.
Cored yarn with dacron core and viscose staple fiber or cotton is comfortable, durable and cool as cotton. It can be used as summer clothes, shirts and other fabrics.
Core-spun YARN WITH elastic fiber or SPANDEX filament AS the core yarn, due to good elasticity, knitted fabric or jeans material woven from this yarn, so that the human body can move freely, comfortable and fit. With polyester filament as the core and cellulose fiber such as cotton yarn or viscose staple fiber as the core yarn, polyester fiber and cellulose fiber have different reaction to acid, which can be made into a special appearance of worn-out cashmere fabric. There are such as acrylic as the core yarn, coated cotton yarn made of the core yarn, with the comfort of cotton fabric and acrylic light warm, soft characteristics.
With polyester staple yarn as the core, the cored yarn is made of cotton yarn or cotton yarn with two kinds of color fastness, and the clothing made of it is more novel and chic.
F. Dyeing and finishing and post-processing points
1. Yarn,
Also known as primary color yarn, used for weaving natural color grey cloth.
2. Dyed yarn
A colored yarn made by boiling and dyeing and used in colored fabrics.
3. Colored spun yarn
(including blending) yarn made by dyeing and spinning fibers. Fabric for weaving with irregular stars and patterns.
4. Bleached yarn
The primary colored yarn is bleached by refining and bleaching, which is used to interweave with the dyed yarn into various colored fabrics.
5. Mercerized yarn
After the mercerized cotton yarn called mercerized yarn. There are mercerized bleached yarns and mercerized dyed yarns for high-grade colored fabrics.
6. Burn yarn
The yarn with smooth surface is made by burning the wool on the surface of the yarn, which can be used for weaving special varieties.
G, according to the final shape of the yarn
1. bobbin
A piece of yarn that comes down from a winding machine and is wound into a bobbin.
2. Hank
The twisted yarn from the spinning process is easy to transport and dye.
Suitable for colored fabrics.
